From Carry to Couture
2024

This garment represents the transformative power of up-cycling, breathing new life into tote bags that once served purely functional purposes. Through careful deconstruction and reimagining, multiple canvas tote bags were deconstructed, their sturdy fabric and existing seams becoming the foundation for a completely reimagined silhouette.

The up-cycling process involved strategically cutting and piecing together sections of various tote bags, preserving some original elements like handles and logos while creating entirely new design lines. What began as everyday carriers for groceries and belongings has been elevated into a wearable statement piece that challenges our perceptions of waste and value.

This garment embodies the core principles of up-cycling. Transforming materials that might otherwise end up in landfills into something with a new aesthetic and artistic worth. The resulting piece maintains traces of its humble origins while achieving an elevated status as couture, exploring how sustainability and style can seamlessly coexist in contemporary fashion.

The Apple & The Tree

Growing up I watched my Mother express herself creatively through everything she did, especially the way she dressed.
Her closet is eclectic and full of unique pieces from around the world. As I grow into my fashion sense and style, I realize the apple did not fall far from the tree.
